Organisations with a primary connection may directly connect their student accommodation to the campus network to provide access to Janet if they wish.

These are available to organisations responsible for the operation of a network, to connect that network to Janet subject to Janet(UK) and JISC's agreement. The network will normally be supporting the broader education and/or research community or be delivering educational services to communities that are not directly connected to Janet, such as schools. These are not subject to the Janet SLA. Only an IP service is normally available — other Janet services are subject to further agreement.

September 2010 Executive Summary With immediate effect, organisations providing a Tier 2 service need not offer WPA; however they may continue to offer WPA if they wish to. Participants should now provide support for WPA2 throughout their eduroam networks.

July 2010 Announcement The eduroam(UK) Technical Specification will be revised towards the end of this year in relation to broadcasting of the ‘eduroam’ SSID. This will require that organisations participating in eduroam(UK) that are not yet offering operational Visited or Home services must cease widespread broadcasting of the eduroam SSID from access points, however broadcasting of the SSID will be permitted in limited development environments.
