Janet is the UK’s National Research and Education Network, a high-speed private data network that connects all universities, colleges, research organisations and schools networks to each other and to the public Internet.

What Overlapping Channel Problem? In the UK, the area of the wireless spectrum set aside for the use of 802.11b/g wireless networking devices is the ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band between 2.400 GHz and 2.497 GHz. In the UK this is subdivided into 13 channels of 25 MHz. In the US, only the first 11 of these channels are available – a fact with implications for UK deployments (see ‘WAG’s Advice’ below).
There are cases when you are logged out automatically from the Janet Community website - your session expires if you have used an Institutional Login.  This is for security reasons, since you will have a session open both between our Service Provider and your institution's Identity Provider, and also a local session on our website; we need to ensure that when you are logged out of one you will be logged out of the other.
