We have a school in our RBC Region that wants a SSL certificate. This is not a service that we routinely provide but are willing to explore. My question is this: I understand that as an exisitng registered customer and RBC we can request to add the School service onto our account and that we have to identify the LEA dfe codes we wish to act on behalf of. Lets say we simply add the LA code for this one school and obtain a certificate for them. If the Local Authority itself later decides that it wants to offer a service via Janet, can they also register and act on behalf of that same LA code ?
Hi Simon. We encourage both local authorities and RBC subscribers to register and use the School facility to obtain SSL server certificates on behalf of schools within their areas. For each certificate request submitted, the school will be sent an email asking them to agree to the T&Cs and provide consent for a certificate to be obtained on their behalf. It is therefore not important whether it is the LA or the RBC, both can be set up to support a particular school. Further details can be found on the library pages here - https://community.ja.net/library/janet-services-documentation/obtaining-...
