Below is a notice received recently recently from aql, requesting that customers update firewalls / ACLs etc. with a new range of IP addresses. Although aql is not part of the Telephony Purchasing Service, some of Jisc's members may be using aql as their SIP provider.

At the time of being accepted on to the Telephony Purchasing Service, each supplier has satisfied the following elements listed in the PreQualification Questionnaire for the Telephony Purchasing Service:
- Company Capability
- Company resources
- Grounds for mandatory and discretionary rejection as set out in Regulation 57(1) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015
I happen to recently be setting up a service (visitor wireless network and other two factor authentication services) that require to be able to send SMS text message. Now there are many SMS service providers out in the world that can be used however is this some thing janet could also offer by setting up and providing a SMS gatway with the usual API and http, smtp methods? And would janets relationship with the phone service providers mean they could provide this at better value than the purley comercial sites?
A few years ago we were an early adopter to using the Janet telephone purchasing framework and have successfully migrated over to SIP trunks and along with this deployed Skype for Business as our Telephone system.

It is worth noting the general points that we encourage customers to consider as part of the Telephony Purchasing Service Invitation to Tender (ITT). These are:
Resilience - requirement to keep some ISDN lines in the event of a network failure
Provision of non-standard end devices - Ensure that telephony facilities such as lifts, car park barriers, entrance systems, emergency phones etc., are considered
