Vscene is intended for use on any device, and helps you contact and collaborate securely with anyone in the UK and abroad. It enables you to have a quick conference e.g. from your laptop but also links into high definition videoconference systems in environments such as boardrooms and lecture theatres. Using Vscene you can speak to more people and through more types of video system.
Skype is intended for individual desktop use and uses the public Internet. Vscene uses the Janet network to deliver calls. Delivery of your video conference over the Janet network provides reliability and a higher level of quality guaranteed. Due to its infrastructure Skype is not used by all organisations and may not retain your video call within the Janet network.
