eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. eduroam provides an infrastructure that allows users to authenticate onto a visited network (wireless and/or wired) using their home site credentials, without any local administrative burden or complexities on the user or the local IT staff.

This course provides and overview of the service, its configuration & deployment and overall monitoring & troubleshooting of the service.

The main aim of the course is to enabling organisations and staff to work lawfully, protect user privacy and run a professional system/network/service. This course provides an introduction to the privacy and legal issues most likely to arise where staff in educational organisations have elevated access permissions for shared networks, computers and applications, and the need for organisations to have, and staff to follow, policies and processes that take account of these.

Taking place over 6 live sessions (with some short offline assignments), this course includes a range of presentations, audio and chat to enable those involved to practice their skills and ultimately save time troubleshooting network issues.
