 Arcus Global portal to AWS

Jisc, in co-operation with AWS and Arcus Global, has a billing and management portal into AWS. The portal provides an easy procurement route for the purchase of AWS services.

As well as providing straightforward administrative facilities, it offers many features including:

  • monthly invoicing - credit cards are no longer required for payment
  • itemized billing - consolidated across users/departments
  • billing in GBP, not dollars
  • setting of budget limits for individual user accounts or departments
  • the retrieval of service usage information within own areas of responsibility
  • volume-discounts through aggregation across multiple educational institutions

The service was procured under EU rules - for more details please see VEAT notice 2014/S 143-257744.

Existing Arcus Global users can login to the portal at this link:

https://aamp.arcusglobal.com

New user organisations who wish to use the portal can do so via the Geant IaaS framework.

Amazon Web Service offerings

Amazon Web Services offers a broad set of global compute, storage, database, analytics, application and deployment services, allowing you to scale up and down to meet your organisation’s needs. Access to these services is greatly enhanced by Amazon’s connection to the Janet network through peering, thus ensuring low latency and a consistently high level of service quality.
